The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University was established in September 1928, and its predecessor was the affiliated hospital of Henan University Medical College. In 1958, it moved from Kaifeng to Zhengzhou and changed its name to the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan Medical College. It was renamed as the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan Medical University in 1985. In 2000, under the energetical supporting of the central government, the former Zhengzhou University, Zhengzhou Technology University and Henan Medical University merged. The hospital was then named as the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, and also known as the First Clinical College of Zhengzhou University. In 2012, the hospital was established as the hospital co-sponsored by province and the Ministry of Health. In 2017, clinical medicine was selected in the national list of world-class universities and first-class disciplines.

The hospital is currently the largest Level-3/Grade-A hospital in China which integrates medical treatment, teaching, research, prevention, health care and recuperation. It represents the higher standard of medical care ability, scientific research level, and international communicative competence in domestic. It has been successively awarded “National Civilized Unit” “top 100 best hospitals of China” “Advanced Collective of National Health System” “National Informationization Construction Advanced Unit”  “National Country Hospitals Assistance Demonstration Base” “National Outstanding Contribution Team for PTC” “National Top Hospital for High Quality Nursing Service” “National Advanced Unit of Hospital Logistics Management” “National Advanced Unit for Culture Development”, and many other honorary titles. It ranks the 19th in China’s Hospital Ranking by Fudan University, and 21st in China’s Hospital Ranking by Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics.

At present, there are four hospital branches in our hospital, which are Heyi branch, Zhengdong distinct (East) branch, Huiji (North) branch, and airport zone (South) branch. These four different branches implement differential development, homogenization management, standardization construction, and normalization operation.
